Bait and Switch
I spoke with a salesperson on the phone regarding a guaranteed price quote on a specific Volkswagen Routan Wagon. He said that the quoted vehicle was not on the lot but they had another similar vehicle on the lot that he assured me they would honor the original quote. Cautious about such a statement I asked him to speak with his manager Richard Gaul and confirm that they will honor the original quote. He confirmed and I went to their showroom to make the purchase. When I arrived I was told that the salesman I had spoken to had just left and that the statement he had made was not correct but they could not honor the original quote because they had a business to run. For anyone dealing with Douglas Volkswagen in NJ I strongly caution: Buyer Beware.
